New Physics Club as from 16.02.2009
The Physics Club run by Mr. Baumgardt is directed at students from
Grades 3 to 6.
The Physics Club offers interested children the possibility to deal
with natural phenomenons playfully, ask questions about nature and
to carry out small experiments. In the school year 2009 we will
mainly be dealing with the basics of electricity. We will build
small electrical
circuits and test them. And of course many other things.......
We meet on Monday, the 16.02.2009 from 3.15 p.m. to 4.15 p.m. in the
former Birke claasroom.
The costs of the club are 25€. Registration with Mrs. Riede in the
school office.
Chess Club
On the 20.05.2008 the 1st Kassel Primary School Chess Cup took place
at the school am Heideweg in Kassel. 9 teams took part, each
bringing 4 players. Niklas V. Leon L.,
Lachlann B. and Talea K represented the Montessori School. In
addition to the Montessori School, the following school also took
part:
The School am Heideweg with 2 teams, the Harleshausen primary school
with 2 teams, the Königstor School with 2 teams and the
Fridtjof-Nansen School with 2 teams. Apart from Niklas, who played
at the fourth board last year in the school team with different team
members, no child had ever taken part in a chess tournament. There
were 8 rounds. We had already told the children that in the first
tournament it was only important to see what happens there and that
it was quite possible that they would all lose. All the children,
however, were very motivated, concentrated hard and played better
than expected. Niklas won 5 out of 8 games at the first board, Leon
got 1 draw, Lachlann won 2 games and Talea won 1 game and drew 1.
Overall the team came in 7th place. Both the children and we the
trainers were very proud of this sucess. The winners were the first
team from the School am Heideweg, the primary scholl in Harleshausen
winning 2nd and 3rd place.
